Ambibox is a young company from Mainz, Germany, founded in 2015 to combine the four megatrends of photovoltaics, electromobility, battery technology and Industry 4.0. Ambibox’s vision and mission is a decentralized energy supply, and sector coupling is the guiding principle, primarily linking the energy and mobility sector.
Since 2015, the company has been working consistently towards this goal with a strong focus on R&D. In the first years, development projects with partners were used to build up the know-how in the company. Since 2020, Ambibox mainly develops products that it invents itself.
Ambibox consists of two business lines. With ambiCHARGE, it develops cutting-edge bidirectional DC based chargers for off-board as well as on-board applications. These chargers are considered the future of EV charging, alllowing not only EV charging but also EV discharging (so called Vehicle-to-Home [V2H], Vehicle-to Building [V2B] and Vehicle-to-Grid [V2G]), consequently enabling cars to become “batteries on wheels”. Its ambiCONVERT business line develops mainly DC/DC converters in different versions from 48V up to 1,500V. Its in-house developed software sid-OS® is a vital part of Ambibox’s innovative technology and allows to control and steer such next-generation distributed energy systems.
Ambibox has been an international company since day one and its employees embrace working with international customers. Ambibox firmly believes that being based in Germany has great advantages in terms of know-how generation, but its international view significantly improves the products especially in terms of customer acceptance.
